The focus of screening for initiative and activity works (Category 18 & 19)

In the screening of the GOOD DESIGN AWARD for initiative and activity works, the Judging Committee is based on the GOOD DESIGN AWARD's perspectives and thinking about design and uses the unique perspectives of this unit to conduct the screening.

When registering the entry information, applicants are requested to read and understand the following screening perspectives, to clarify what the design of the entry is, and to register the information required by the jury members at the specified location on the Entry Site.

Screening perspective: five axes

The screening is based on multiple perspectives, including the background, process, purpose, and achievements of the design of the entry.

Does it focus on the essential issue?
- What is the part of the focused issue that needs to be solved?
- What is the future after the issue is solved?
- What is the role played by design here?

Are the content and mechanisms inevitable?
- Is there a reason to confront the issue?
- Is there an inevitability that the design must be used?

Are the performance and outcomes (outputs) rational, clear, and aesthetically pleasing?

Are there accumulated tangible achievements? Is it expected to be sustainable?
- Does it meet local and community needs?
- Is it expected to be sustainable?

Is it persuasive enough to convince the community as a whole that it is a good design?

Screening perspective: focus on each “period”

1) New initiative and activity (months to 2 years of implementation)
Please describe what kind of issue the work is trying to solve; what kind of mechanism has been created for this purpose; what kind of methods have been used; what kind of changes have been initiated among the people involved; and what are the possibilities for the future. Even if it is a one-time initiative or activity, please describe how it will continue to be effective after implementation.

2) Ongoing initiative and activity (3 to 5 years of implementation)
Please describe the extent to which the activities implemented in the work have had a positive effect on the solution of the issue; what mechanisms have been created; what practical contribution the work has made to the solution of the issue; whether it has contributed to a change in the actions of the people involved; and what effects have been produced at the quantitative and qualitative levels, respectively.

3) Initiative and activity that have been sustained over a long period (implemented for more than 5 years)
Please describe what kind of activities have been carried out so far; how the mechanism to ensure the continued operation of the work in the future is practiced; and what is the outlook for the future. the continued operation of the work is practiced, and what is the outlook for the future.
