Outline
a recipe book born from efforts educating children in our nursery school about food. During this crucial period while the children's basic senses develop, as they do and experience the whole process of cooking by themselves or with an adult, and not just "help", they are able to learn not only vital skills for cookling, but also skills of planning and observation as well.

少し前の時代までは家庭内での煮炊きの場面を通して自然と子どもが身につけていた料理の感覚や能力も、加工食品や半調理品の普及、核家族化、共働き世帯の増加などが原因で「日々の生活で自然と身につくもの」ではなくなった。 ひより保育園では、開園以来食育活動に力を入れており、たくさんの視察や問い合わせを受けるなかで強いニーズがあることを知り、他園あるいは家庭でも、ひより保育園の食育活動が再現できるよう書籍化を決めた。

味覚が形成されるこの時期に、より多くの「味」を感じ、五感を使って調理することで、料理そのものだけでなく、段取り力やアレンジ力、待つ力、想像する力など様々な力が身につくように工夫した。 家庭料理の「基礎」になる力と、料理の勘所が身につくようメニューの構成を考えた。

We were impressed not just by this recipe book, but also by the entire project, which beautifully conveys how dietary education activities in nursery schools help children to grow. We admire the nursery school’s desire to ensure that this cook book with recipes that children can actually try making themselves, rather than just helping, and which makes them want to cook will be able to be used not just in homes, but also more widely in other nursery schools. It is splendid to see the staff’s willingness to think beyond their own institution in editing and communicating their know-how.
