Outline: 99 COMMONS is a reinvented workshop tower designed to revitalize the industrial town of Tuen Mun by gathering a community of young entrepreneurs and creatives. The design team distilled elements from the surrounding nature, including the iconic Castle Peak, the blue sky, the tree branches, and the Light Rail, to inform the design and crafts of the facade and lobby interior.

Evaluation

While an office in a small unit tends to become boring, this office was carefully designed including the minimal elements like tiles on the facade and the cover of the outdoor units, and gelled with the environment. This work reminded us that these small details by architects are making city environments better. The office was awarded as it was also trying to make a rich space not only with the facade, but with the interior as well.
