Outline

This hospice facility plays an intermediate role between home and hospital, providing palliative care for terminally ill cancer patients. In addition to a treatment facility, we imagined a hospice like a home where patients can spend time with their families and friends. In other words, we sought to create a final home connected to daily life, rather than the "isolation" typical of hospitals.

Evaluation

Visiting or staying in hospice is not pleasant for any patients and families. However, in this ageing society, any facilities where they spend time should be considered their home, no matter their health status or disabilities. This palliative care ward is a facility and also a home that respects human dignity to a maximal degree. With the beautiful view of the garden and the amicable space with the presence of others, this place definitely can accommodate patients without making them feel left out. In addition, families also feel relieved while the patients stay here. This facility gives an important message to other facilities for the elderly and people with disabilities to think about.
