Although art festivals aimed at solving local issues are held throughout the country, the main point of this BEPPU PROJECT is that it is founded and run by a private entity. In addition to the art festival "Mixed Bathing World" which commenced in 2009, there is a wide range of activities such as organizing a cultural festival, running "Kiyoshima Apartment," and publishing "Tabitecho Beppu" in 2011, and these activities even have an influence now on the policies of the city and the prefecture. It deserves high praise for its initiatives for building up the public-private partnerships in reality, as well as taking time to build a consensus, instead of starting with public-private partnerships through a superficial attempt. It was established in 2005, and because efforts have been made over time, it has resulted in such outcomes.
