Outline

WaterHall Project, located in Sneung Village of Battambang in Cambodia, houses a pump and filter system that generates clean water for locals' usage. The village is affected severely by recurring droughts and floods due to climate change. Main water sources are from a lake nearby, which is dried half of the year, and from wells which could be contaminated by pollution from factories nearby.

Evaluation

This is a rainwater filtration facility in a Cambodian agricultural community. With the involvement of local citizens, this facility has been built to provide drinking water by collecting and filtering rainwater, because the local lake dries up for half a year and the only other source of water is groundwater polluted by industrial effluent. Precisely because they were involved in its construction, local children have developed an attachment to it and it has naturally become a place where they gather. We hope to see an increase in the number of designers capable of making this kind of contribution to the community.
