Outline: The design concept is inspired from several distinguishable traits of the homeowner - an IT engineer, a bio-lover, and a faithful Christian. Naturally, the image of a floating light becomes the design essence that fits the religious family. Also, the palette of blue, black, and shades of grey is hand-picked to create a futuristic tone that matches professional background of the owner.

Evaluation

This design involved the renovation of a condominium in Taichung, Taiwan. When we first saw the photographs, we thought it was actually in Japan, due to the floor space of just 76 m², the fact that it has a raised-floor room with a recessed floor under the low table designed for use while sitting on the floor, and its “1.5 storey” structure in which the master bedroom has been raised slightly, creating a storage space underneath. This simple, appealing design makes a favorable impression, as well as reminding us that the wisdom employed in the effective use of limited space has a universality that transcends national borders.
