背景
The logistics industry is struggling with heavy labor and a high staff turnover, resulting in productivity limited by the long learning cycle of novice workers. Moreover, current PDAs in the industry are cumbersome and hard to use at a fancy price. As the core ability of PDAs is to scan the barcode, 90% of the provided functions are useless to users. Those redundant functions not only increase the difficulty in learning but also become an extra cost that customers have to afford. Due to the expensive price, instead of using a smart device for higher productivity, manual processing is still dominant in many small to midsize enterprises. Therefore, the situation calls for a smart device with just enough capability, easy-to-learn interaction, and an affordable price for all enterprises.
経緯とその成果
Due to the mismatch between current PDAs and the actual demand of the industry, we designed CAINIAO LEMO, a lightweight PDA with the goal to create simple and intuitive interaction experience and deliver a healthier work style with ease. By now, CAINIAO LEMO has been mass-produced and served 4+ million orders. We figured: 1. Hands of users are released by CAINIAO LEMO. While they used to spend 15 mins each hour on placing the PDA to move heavy objects, now they just need a simple ring flip. 2. Novice users learn faster than ever, which contributes to the issue of high staff turnover. It takes only 2 days for a novice user to reach the efficiency of users with 1-year experience. 3. With an affordable price, CAINIAO LEMO helps enterprises of all sizes to realize their digitalized workflow.

CAINIAO LEMOは、オーダーピッキングや保管管理など、物流業界の特殊な業務に特化して設計された軽量なハンドヘルドPDAである。このPDAのユニークな特徴は背面にあるリング形状にある。人間工学に基づいた疲労分析により導き出されたリングに指を通すことで、首から下げるストラップのようにふいにPDAを商品にぶつけたりもせず手を離しても作業ができるために、現場作業性が向上した。近年急増激化している物流作業従事者の負担を軽減させるだけでなく、新しいワークスタイルを提供している点を評価した。
