Outline: Renovating a vacant house to share houses for students in Hatoyama New town, where the aging rate have increased in recent years. It was a commissioned project from this Town. Taking advantage of the concept that working in cooperation with Hatoyama Town and neighboring universities as a manager even after completion, We made a design for activities that can be imagined .

Evaluation

This project has transformed a vacant house in a new town into a shared house. Vacant house is nowadays becoming a social issue that could not be solved just by updating the design. Care must be taken from the planning stage down to management in order to revitalize the space. This is an example where that is well executed. The meticulous and strategic intervention, such as opening up the shared house to the neighborhood and renovating the space without excessive modification, reveals a brand-new future for new towns.
