- Outline
This project is a renovation of Hanazonomachi Street located in the center of Matsuyama City. The street is revitalized as a ‘square’ that natures the local life by narrowing the 6-lane roadway to 2-lanes and by the design of sidewalk considering each character of buildings along the street. On the sidewalk widened up to 10 meters, kids play catch in the lawn area, parents with children eat and talk on deck, and residents raise flowers. The street is filled with special atmosphere on the market day held monthly by local people. A lot of people, food and items are gathered from all over Ehime Prefecture, which has some traces of a castle town. In addition, mobile stalls were introduced by UDCM and local craft workers. We can see the scenery of lively life on the new Hanazonomachi Street.
