A leading industrial robot company wanted to create a new community space in its home town. The result was an afterschool for elementary school students and cafe with kitchen studio, in the same complex. The children learn science through fun experiments, in English, fostering a new generation of engineers. A goal is to reverse the declining interest in science among students while encouraging them to think globally. The site chosen is a key historical spot, the 39th station along the old Tokaido route. The design seeks to connect local history with the global theme of the natural sciences.
