Outline: The client has a 12-year old daughter with a mental disability who has found her talent in pastries. The Sweets Factory is designed to fulfill her dream to have her own store and bring joy to people through pastries. She started learning pastries by herself when she was 10, training through mobile catering. The goal of this project is to make a sweets factory that welcomes everyone .

Evaluation

This project made us think whoever said that architecture brings happiness probably had something like this in mind. This project involved creating a place where Mi-chan, who has a psychiatric disorder that makes it hard for her to engage with other people, can let her talent for making confectionery shine. It is wonderful to see how, through this space, she is able to indirectly maintain links with society. This joint project brought together her family, who decided to create this space for her, with the architect, who took care to understand their feelings in creating it. It is a tremendously heartwarming project that brings home the potential of architecture.
