River Port Park began as a redevelopment project in Minokamo City. The space was chosen because of its potential to represent Minokamo as a city that is connected to the natural world. In and around the park you can find natural forests, a large field, and the Kiso River. Thanks to these resources, it is possible to engage in various outdoor activities. Because the local community actively organizes and participates in invents, they worked closely with the park designers to create a space where people can play. The idea was to create a “multi-generational/cross-cultural area where people can connect with each other and nature.” Currently, the park is managed by a designated administrator. It’s an ideal place for locals and tourists to relax and enjoy nature, making it the new “port”.
