This highway rest stop in the Senzaki district of the province of Nagato, typical of those that dot the Japanese countryside offering local cuisine and culture, was built aside a splendid scenic view of the Japan Sea. It was designed to give visitors comfort, and at the same time instill an experience of something entirely new, based upon and enhancing the appeal of the region’s character. The plan is divided among new constructions and restored existing structures. White screen walls suggest waves and the promise of local specialties, and a seaside terrace discovers the area’s treasures through shopping and dining. “Senzakitchen” comes from the name of the place, “Senzaki”. It’s a place where visitors can eat Nagato’s abundant cuisines, enjoyable culture, and enriching activities.
