Having accumulated experiences from our previous N/M series products, we have found that a lot of our customers are not looking for excessive range or performance in a scooter. But looking for a product that is light weight, convenient, and adaptive to their daily commuting needs. Therefore we have reconsidered the essential needs for different consumer groups base on the 2.6 billion kilometer rider's data and consumer research for this new product. And have refined U1's set up to balance price, weight, and function.

Adaptable as open hardware platform

The goal was very clear right from the start of the project. We were to design a light, agile, and adaptable platform. Consumers should be able to customise the scooter easily with accessories and minimal amount of effort to tailor the scooter's function to their needs. U1's design is a balance between structure and styling. To achieve adaptability, we have decided to expose it's structure as the part of the body and unique character of the design. We believe the thick frame could provide better strength and impact for safety, and could highlight the stream line design.
