Abeno Harukas is a 60-story supertall building with five basement levels, built directly above Abeno station. It has a total floor area of approximately 306,000 square meters and containsoffice spaces, a department store, hotel, museum, a day nursery and an observatory. At a height of 300 meters measured from the ground, it is the tallest building in Japan. The goals for this project were therefore to revitalize Abeno and the areas along the railways and to reorganize Osaka's city structure by establishing Abeno as a place with a unique character that functions as a "third pole" of Osaka.
