TMT is a collaborated project with five countries, JP, US, CA, CN, and IN. TMT will be built on Mauna Kea in the state of Hawaii, and would contribute to reveal the birth of universe. The 30m primary mirror is composed of 492 hexagonal mirrors. MELCO has been developing the main structure of TMT and SHS which exchange the segment mirror because of the degradation of the coated surface by metal. The World first segment handling robot which is the key technology for SHS has been developed by MELCO. The automation function of the developed robot would enable to expand the observation time of TMT.
