概要

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is our new model with an innovative product design the world has never seen; "Dual Curved LCD". The device demonstrates another advancement of the design philosophies of the Galaxy series. It employs 'Fluid UX' and 'Edge lighting UX', a set of UX choices optimized for the curved LCD, in order to maximize the value of the product. This adds a sense of humanistic value to the hardware characteristics of the Edge, by satisfying one of the basic human needs; desire to stay connected with his family and friends.

デザインコンセプト

Our goal was to produce a digital experience that starts from the Edge and helps its user to communicate with the world.

背景

Dual Curved LCD feature gives its user a perfect grip of the Edge. Also, it allows a part of the front screen to stay visible with the device facing down. We wanted to link these H/W characteristics to our goal of satisfying one's desire to keep in touch with people he cares. As a result, we came up with the new concept for the product; "the Edge - the link between you and your loved ones".

デザイナーの想い

To maximize the value of the new form factor, we aimed to fuse its characteristics with that of a human being in need of consistent connections with the world. In addition, we made information delivery "glance-able" by applying the streamlined Fluid UX and appropriate level of information screening.

企画・開発の意義

As a leader in the industry, we believed that it was a meaningful approach to find an optimum point between the H/W innovations and the impact of the new values that consumers could actually feel. We find it especially significant to come up with a product that not only provides convenient features as a smart device but also delivers an extra value by serving as another interpersonal channel.

創意工夫

-The curved display delivers 'Fluid Iconic UX' in a smooth, natural manner. -The 'Edge lighting' feature informs the user whenever the he receives a message/call from his favorite contacts even with the device facing down. -The device allows its user to match each of his contacts with different colors; a result of our design concept to link the Edge, color, and people. -The Edge/s 'Colored Notification' feature informs the user when there is an important incoming message or call with less interruptive, natural displays of colors.

Galaxy S6 Edge는 Edge가 있어야 하는 이유를 UX에서 잘 표현해준다. 또한 Galaxy S6 Edge의 UX는 본체의 디자인과 일체감이 있다. Galaxy S6 Edgeは、エッジ形状の理由をUXを通じてうまく表現している。また、本製品のUXは本体のデザインと一体感あるものになっている点も評価できる。
