The aim of the project is to tackle what art can do for the society, this is the fundamental concept of creation in Kawada. We take art in more direct social uses, that broaden the frame of ‘art’. We believe that the project is an opportunity for thinking about the future. Japan’s population had its peak in 2008, and is slowly decreasing. This shows that our society is now changing its form and balance. During years of activities, we have carried the slogan “What art can do for the society”. Students and local citizens are discussing, and creating new values through their projects.
