概要

The small cylindrical Smart Dot with a diameter of 8.9mm was designed as a surprisingly compact product that can be used without batteries by simply being plugged into the 3.5mm audio jack of smartphones. It is offered with a stylus pen and a looped strap and can be configured depending on users' needs.The laser pointer module can be put into the stylus pen for touch pad. The soft silicon stopper keeps the cylindrical stylus pen from rolling over while providing outstanding craftsmanship and distinguished design. The looped strap made of soft silicon can be a fashion icon.

Smart Dot, which is free from batteries, can prevent or reduce environmental problems that could be caused by batteries of portable devices. All components are assembled in the small cylinder with the dimensions of 8.9x47mm, minimizing the number of required parts and processes.

Smart Dot is an innovative product that not only maximizes usability in the presentation environment by utilizing application software but also minimizes the size. Both the simple and intuitive product design and the application program offered together with the product create an effective presentation environment through the UI design that ensures easy use without complicate separate training.

Smart Dot is an energy-efficient product that can be used without batteries anytime and anywhere only if it is plugged into a smartphone. It can be used as a pen on the screen of tablets and smartphones when put into the stylus pen. It can be also put into the silicon strap and attached to a bag to become a stylish fashion item. The accessories provides a possibility for various use scenarios.

Smart Dot is a product that combines hardware of a laser pointer and software for presentation. The convergence of hardware and software that existed independently maximizes usability for presentation and, at the same time, suggests a new direction in design and technology.

Users' needs become increasingly specific and demanding, numerous applications designed to meet various needs are offered. However, use of the applications is physically limited due to the nature of hardware of smartphone. Smart Dot resolves this problem through convergence of software and hardware, providing new opportunities for new markets and new possibilities of various infrastructure.

ユーザー・社会に伝えたいこと

Designers first need to fully understand the nature and purpose of products that we intend to make and, at the same time, recognize their relationship with other objects or various stories and experiences that happen around the products. Only when the understanding and recognition merge seamlessly, can ultimate 'experience design' be created to deliver small but deep impression.
