While replenishment of fluids is essential to maintaining health, elderly people who have experienced decreased activities of daily living (ADL), for example through weakening of the grip due to numbness of the hands, tend to have difficulty with the act of drinking water. Based on the designer's own experience as a care provider, the subject item makes it possible for elderly people with decreased ADL to replenish fluids easily with no need for help. The opening is sealed tightly most of the time, preventing leaks, and when the user grips the cap loosely with his or her mouth it opens to release a small stream of liquid content. It does not spill even when shaken, upside down, or knocked over, and it makes it easy to drink even while laying down. It comes in types for use with cups and with plastic beverage bottles.
