"Shinonome Canal CourtﾑCentral Zone" is a large-scale housing development project consisting of approximately 2000 units. The urban planning process began with the establishment of a "Town and Neighborhood Planning Committee", composed of leaders of opinion from various fields. This committee developed and submitted plans and proposals for an entirely new concept in urban housing. Next, the "Shinonome Design Committee", consisting of a team of architects, landscape, lighting and sign designers, the Urban Renaissance Agency and Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. took the basic design concept and developed a set of "Design Guidelines" to serve as a basis for the overall urban design work. The project is divided into 6 different towns or neighborhoods, and this new type of urban housing development is now taking shape, using innovative design proposals created by the architectural team.
