What is a railroad vehicle "unique to Taiwan?” This project not only answers this question asking about a design on an ordinary train, but also gave us an answer to the question "how should the design of railroad vehicles be?” As a result of repeated discussions with citizens and local intellectuals, the design resulted in an elegant combination of simple exterior and softly sophisticated interior without showiness and peculiarities, by verbalizing the depth of "Unique to Taiwan.” The design process went beyond the conventional closed framework between the ordering party and developers, and covered publication of details of research and discussions connecting the local organizer, users, and international developers, as well as exhibitions, interviews of citizens to collect information, and promotion of the launch of the new train. This is brilliant. Consequently, we highly rated not only the quality of design of appearance, but also the design of the project as a whole, foreseeing the future timeframe that will take root in the local community along with the glory of the city.
