Reading classic literature inspires an array of complex emotions that can be described, for example, as sweet, bitter, or bracing-words that are also used to describe the flavors of food and drink. That made us wonder: What would a classic novel taste like? This was the concept behind Good Book Coffees. We used an AI program to study over 10,000 online reviews of Japanese classics and convert those impressions into a flavor that could be replicated in coffee form. From a bitter blend that reflects the anguish of one protagonist, to a sweetly aromatic blend that evokes the romantic notes of a famous love story, the coffees are imbued with the specific qualities associated with the works they are based on, providing an entirely new way to experience these classics.
