This is Japanese convenience store, LAWSON's sustainable prototype shop that adopted domestic timber CLT (cross laminated timber) as a roof frame and ceiling finish. This project aimed to upgrade the building type of convenience store which was established in the 20th century to 21st-century model. Thick CLT panels enhance workability as well as provide healthy shopping experience by improving the property of thermal insulation, moisture buffering and thermal storage effect. The sloping roof towards the entrance and exposed wooden play a role as a new store icon. In terms of energy efficiency, we acquire the certification of Zero Energy Building and five stars BELS, and we expect to reduce the amount of electricity procured externally by about 60% compared to 2016's standard stores.
