Outline

This is a wristwatch-type blood pressure monitor for home use that can be used easily and correctly by anyone through the application of the principles of Universal Design. We modified our proprietary "Fitcuff" armband to create an accurate device that was comfortable to wear and easy to operate. In addition we increased the size of the display screen by 20%, and the size of the characters displayed by 13% compared with our conventional models, so it is easier to read than other monitors. The device is turned on simply by pressing a "Measurement On/Off" switch, and measurement begins automatically through the use of a "One push switch" that helps to eliminate switch operating errors. Another important feature is a motion detector that notifies the wearer of excessive body motion that can be the source of measurement errors. All in all this is a design that allows for simple and accurate operation.
