The design department of Matsushita Electric was founded in 1951. Since its inception it has had a decisive influence on the development and success of design products in Japan. Expansion and diversification in the following years made it increasingly difficult for the company to maintain a department dedicated exclusively to design. As a result, in 2002 the decision was made to unite all the design units in the different divisions into a new ad hoc company, the Panasonic Design Company, dedicated to innovative design. This new company conveys the Panasonic Group's unique style in keeping with the company philosophy of "ubiquitous networking throughout society" and "co-existence with the natural environment".

Exhibit items
Prototypes of Panasonic AVC Network products presented:
42" plasma TV, DVD recorder, DVD audio receiver, speaker system for audio DVDs, SD camcorder, high resolution SD camcorder, portable SD audio systems, SD mobile viewer, AV amplifier, digital camera, earphones, cell phones, etc.
All Panasonic's designs represent the three design values of "progressive," "sensitive," and "timeless", as advocated by the Panasonic Design Company.
Borderless integration of values continues apace, ignoring age or gender, as can be seen in the unisex and universal designs in our daily life, in parallel with globalization.
These exhibits are design prototypes for Panasonic AVC Network products which convey the sense of values of this era through integrated design.  This vision, expressed as unified design, will be increasingly extended to other Panasonic products.
In our video recording, our unified design for Home Appliance products and our "good design"-awarded products are introduced in the context of this unified design for Panasonic AVC Network products.
