2008 G Mark Usage Guide Supplement
1) Usage Applicant
(1) Application in the case of multiple winners
In cases where there are multiple winners of a Good Design Award, if one of the winners applies for the use of G Mark and receives the approval of the organizer, the other winners may also use G Mark.
(2) Definition of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises
Following is the definition set forth in the "Small and Medium Enterprise Basic Law". The definition applies mutatis mutandis to the "Using G Mark".
Furthermore, the following definition also applies mutatis mutandis to any case where the winner is a foreign corporation.
Provided, however, that fee reduction measures shall not apply to "Small and medium-sized enterprises under the substantial control of large companies", including the subsidiaries of large companies.
When the award winner is a manufacturer, etc.: |
A company with total capital or contribution investment of up to 300 million yen, or a company or an individual enterprise with up to 300 full-time employees. |
When the award winner is a wholesaler: |
A company with total capital or contribution investment of up to 100 million yen, or a company or an individual enterprise with up to 100 full-time employees. |
When the award winner is a retailer: |
A company with total capital or contribution investment of up to 50 million yen, or a company or an individual enterprise with up to 50 full-time employees. |
When the award winner is a service provider (Applies to design offices, etc.): |
A company with total capital or contribution investment of up to 50 million yen, or a company or an individual enterprise with up to 100 full-time employees. |
(3) Application by Agents
Agents, including advertising agencies, may also apply for the "Using G Mark" with the approval of the winner. In the case of an application by an agent, please attach the winner’s written consent (in any form).
2) Application Procedures
Applications for G Mark usage should be processed in the following manner.
(1) Application for usage
Please apply for usage of the G Mark on the Good Design Award website. Each awarded entry requires an individual application.
In exceptional cases such as (1) when there is an urgent request to use the G Mark at an exhibition or similar event, or (2) extremely limited use of the G Mark, applicants should contact the organizer directly
(2) Usage Fee Payment by Bank Transfer
We will send an invoice. Please pay the specified G Mark usage fee by bank transfer.
(3) Issuance of the Usage Permission Certificate
After confirmation of the payment of the applicable usage fee, we will issue a
G Mark usage permission certificate.
(4) Using G Mark
The period for the use of G Mark shall be one year from the usage starting date described in the usage permission certificate. If use is required beyond such a period, please reapply for the use. Furthermore, please refer to the “
G Mark Usage Guideline” since there are certain rules on the use of G Mark.
These regulations shall be effective from October 1, 2008.
