Message from the Chairperson of the Jury Commettee(2007/05/16)
Good Design Award commonly known as 'G-mark' in Japan over 50 years.
Good Design Award (G-mark system) has developed over period of 50 years. The award has always been at the forefront of Japanese design, reflecting and inspiring trends. We have praised design activities, throwing light on excellent qualities and hidden efforts. We have also fulfilled a role in motivating people to redefine society by discussing and confirming what values will never change, what values are changing, and what values we must and must not change. The award appraises efforts in a broad range of fields, looking through the eyes of the Japan's most accomplished contemporary designers for timeless, enduring design borne of human skill and experience, faithful design that is firmly rooted in everyday life, and cutting-edge design applying new technology.
Good Design Award is an open award system. We evaluate entries fairly, without bias. Submissions from overseas are warmly welcomed, because outstanding designs transcend traditional categories and national borders. And they always stimulate each other at a higher level and inspires new design, shaping our future. Good Design Award activities continue to grow on an international scale, and we look forward to even more overseas submissions.
