2009 Good Design Awards: Exhibition Information
The following sets forth information necessary for the exhibition of entries at the Good Design Awards Second Screening Panel hosted as established by the 2009 Good Design Awards
Principal Guidelines. The various sections constituting this information are as follows:
1) Purpose of Exhibition
* After the Second Screening is concluded, the Organizer will open the venue to the public, and host the Good Design Expo.
* Based on directions from the Organizer, applicants display the actual products or embodiments of their entries. The exhibiting constitutes participation in the Good Design Expo.
2) Exhibition Format
- Content permitted in the exhibition is limited to the actual product or embodiment of a subject entry. Please refer to 5) Supplemental Notes regarding entries whose actual product or embodiment cannot be exhibited because of physical restrictions or confidentiality issues.
- Applicants exhibit the actual product or embodiment for each entry individually with a Display Package arranged by the Organizer. For entries that cannot use a Display Package because of their sizes or characteristics, the applicant shall apply only for the necessary space and assume responsibility for finishing the installation.
- Applicants may not enter the screening venue during the screening periods.
- Applicants shall assume the costs associated with transporting entries to (carry-in) and from (carry-out) the venue.
- The Organizer may decide upon, and request changes in the exhibition format of any applicant. Any exhibit deemed by the Organizer as inappropriate for a general public forum will not be released for display at the Good Design Expo.

3) Security and Intellectual Property
- The Organizer will assume responsibility for security against damage, loss, or theft of entries during the Second Screening Panel. The Applicant will assume responsibility for the same during the Good Design Expo.
- The Organizer is committed to security of the venue and exhibits during these private and public dates.
- Prior to any information release made by the Organizer, the Organizer asks for applicants to file design registrations or the like in order to retain industrial property rights. The Good Design Expo is scheduled to receive an exposition designation from the Japan Patent Office related to exemption rules concerning the loss of innovation.

4) Application for Exhibition Space
Applicants follow the procedures along steps (1) through (5) below for exhibiting.
(1) The Organizer notifies the results of the First Screening on July 15.
(2) Through the website, applicants apply for the space needed for exhibiting and the exhibition format (July 15 to 22).
(3) The Organizer verifies the exhibition content of each applicant with this application and issues invoices.
(4) Based on the invoices, applicants remit the Second Screening fee and Exhibition fee by August 14.
(5) Applicants transport entries to the venue and display them at the date and time and locations designated by the Organizer.
*For details on transporting, advice will be communicated after the First Screening in the Good Design Awards Transportation of Entries.

5) Supplemental Notes
5-1. Exhibiting Publicly Unreleased Entries
- Publicly unreleased entries may apply, as long as they satisfy the conditions listed in the Principal Guidelines.
- Publicly unreleased entries that ask for highly confidential screening, are not exhibited according to the methods set forth in this Exhibition Information.
5-2. Applications for Entries Difficult to Ship or Exhibit at the Venue
For entries difficult to exhibit the actual product at the Second Screening venue, such as architected structures, the exhibit shall comprise illustrative overview panels (B1-sized, vertical, descriptive content at discretion of applicant), models, videos, etc.
5-3 Exhibition Format as a Company Unit
Instead of the ordinary exhibit set forth in
2) Exhibition Format above, applicants can exhibit as a company unit in the Design Communication Zone established within the Good Design Expo.
