Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization held an exhibition "Japan Design – Good Design Award 50 Years" at Triennale di Milano from 5 to 10 April, 2006.
The exhibition was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Japan's foremost design awards, the Good Design Awards. Besides celebrating a half-century of Good Design Awards history, this exhibition introduced the design efforts of twenty longtime participants, focusing on their award-winning products.
The exhibition consisted of two sections: "Fifty years of the Good Design Awards" and "Design Activities of Japanese Companies". "Fifty Years of the Good Design Award" section showed the fifty years history of the Good Design Award with photographs and the past award winning items that are historical masterpieces. At the "Design Activities of Japanese Companies" section, twenty Japanese leading companies showed their design philosophies, visions and activities that were examined from various perspectives centering around the Good Design Award winning items.
The exhibition had approximately 40,000 visitors.
