Good Design Presentation (GDP)

The second-stage screening rooms at Tokyo Big Sight (exhibition hall) are opened to the public during the Good Design Presentation. In cooperation with leading design firms and educational institutions, an exhibition designed to "relate the possibilities of design" (also referred to as Design Initiative) was held in concert with last year's fair. Though it was only scheduled for two days and a half, this exhibit blossomed into the largest design event in Japan. Roughly 40,000 persons, including those working in design-related, distribution-related fields, and news-related fields, as well as students and even ordinary families, attended this exhibition.
Only design is capable of taking a prototype and eloquently narrating a vision of future lifestyles and the form the objects supporting those lifestyles will take. This power inherent to design is not only bolstered by the large numbers who attended last year's exhibit, but is also gaining even more attention as it is increasingly the subject of news features and other media coverage.
