KAMEDAJIMA is the traditional cotton textile and its products originally born in Kameda town, Niigata prefecture. It’s been used for over 300 years among folks in Niigata and all over the country, best used as agricultural work clothes. Our project launched in 2014 to revive the decreasing demand for these classic fabrics. “New Kamedajima design that fit right in the present lifestyle” is the concept, which gave birth to 2 new patterns in collaboration with students of Musashino Art University textile lab. These textile is actually taken on in bed covers and uniforms in Satoyama Jujo hotel.
